Committees

Committees of the VRA work on targeted issues or projects to advance recycling in the Commonwealth. VRA members are encouraged to participate in committee work. Email the committee chair to learn more about the work of a particular committee.

Finance

The finance committee ensures that the VRA remains financially stable through financial planning, oversight and reporting. Committee members make sure that all expenses are planned and accounted for.

Education/Training/Conference

The training, education, and conference committee develops sessions, events and programs that offer VRA members the opportunity to enhance their existing skills or build new ones that add to their understanding of the industry and their professional portfolio. The committee plans and manages the VRA conference and annual meeting, which brings together VRA members and industry speakers for discussion and for educational and networking opportunities. Committee members help secure the presenters, moderators, facilities, resources and equipment necessary to support general meetings and training sessions to ensure the best possible experience for our members.

Communications and Membership

The communications and membership committee raises the profile of the VRA outside the organization through articles, press releases, and interviews that focus on relevant issues within recycling . The committee focuses on recruiting and retaining VRA members and also communicates information and promotes discussion among VRA members through our website, LinkedIn and other social media platforms . Committee members gather information and draft material for publication. Committee members are actively involved in reaching out to prospective members, businesses, and organizations to promote the benefits of VRA and build our network.

Policy and Governance

The policy and governance committee reviews and maintains compliance with bylaws and policies of the VRA. The committee undertakes the research that drives the development of VRA policy on current issues facing our industry. Committee members attend meetings and conferences, talk to colleagues, read policy documents and relevant articles, and then come together to discuss how this information can benefit VRA members.
