Committees of the VRA work on targeted issues or projects to advance recycling in the Commonwealth. VRA members are encouraged to participate in committee work. Email the committee chair to learn more about the work of a particular committee.

Membership and Outreach

The membership committee focuses on recruiting and retaining VRA members. Committee members are actively involved in reaching out to prospective members, businesses, and organizations to promote the benefits of VRA and build our network.

The policy committee undertakes the research that drives the development of VRA policy on current issues facing our industry. Committee members attend meetings and conferences, talk to colleagues, read policy documents and relevant articles, and then come together to discuss how this information can benefit VRA members.

Training Committee

The training and education committee develops sessions, events and programs that offer VRA members the opportunity to enhance their existing skills or build new ones that add to their understanding of the industry and their professional portfolio. Committee members find the resources and the plan the activities and events for our members.

The finance committee ensures that the VRA remains financially stable through financial planning, oversight and reporting. Committee members make sure that all expenses are planned and accounted for.

Conference Committee

The conference committee plans and manages the VRA conference and annual meeting, which brings together VRA members and industry speakers for discussion and for educational and networking opportunities. Committee members help secure the presenters, moderators, facilities and equipment necessary to support general meetings and training sessions to ensure the best possible experience for our members.

Business and Industry

The business and industry committee is tasked with raising the profile of VRA by building relationships within our industry and forging new partnerships and collaboration throughout the business community. Committee members reach out to businesses and associations to broaden their understanding of recycling and build our network of active VRA members.

Awards Committee

The awards committee celebrates the achievements of our members and our community by reviewing annual VRA award nominations and selecting a winner in each of the designated award categories. Committee also assist in planning the annual awards ceremony.

Communications Committee

The communications committee raises the profile of the VRA outside the organization through articles, press releases, and interviews that focus on relevant issues within recycling . The committee also communicates information and promotes discussion among VRA members through our website, LinkedIn and other social media platforms . Committee members gather information and draft material for publication.
